Sunday Best - The Bear Necessities

I'm a little bit in love with bears at the moment. They seem to be creeping into my autumn home decor and I have a bear ring...and am on the lookout for a bear necklace. Could they be the new owls? (nope...nothing is ever going to replace the owl in my heart...but they could be a close second...)

This weeks pinterest board is brought to you by the giant fuzzy guys who are so good at hugs...

That Friday Feeling - Tattoos, Puppies and Tunes

Print and photo by LovelyCuppa on Etsy

Well now where did that week go? Here are a few things I've been in love with this week...

I've discovered this amazing new band who I can't stop listening to. They formed in..errr..1976. So yeah, I'm very late to the game when it comes to the music of The Cure. I've always been aware of them and their music but have never really properly listened to it. That's changed recently and they are on constant repeat in my car when I'm driving. My favourite song for this week is Boys Don't Cry, but that will probably change for next week. So many amazing songs.

Tattoo Fixers is definitely a guilty pleasure TV show of mine. The artists and Paisley are so fun to watch, the bad tattoos are just so...bad (seriously, how many people out there have terrible drawings of male genitalia tattooed on them?!), and they remind me that I want a new tattoo on a weekly basis. There are some amazing cross-stitch inspired tattoos out there so watch this space!

This little fella. This is Indy, our little Shihapso. He's having a shy moment, but I have a feeling he'll been featuring 'round these parts every so often. Love him every minute of every day.

I hope your week has been full of some loveliness too!

Bye for now.

BEDN - My current favourite YouTube Video

I spend less time on YouTube than I used to. I'm finding some pf the Vloggers I used to watch a little bit...forced...and aimed at the tween market.

However, every now and then another little gem (normally involving a ridiculous animal) grabs my attention.

Teddy Bear the talking porcupine is no exception. I watch this video and suddenly the stresses of the day melt away.

So if you haven't been introduced to this chatty little guy before, enjoy.

BEDN - Photography

I have a new camera! It's a Fujifilm FinePix S9400W and I'm in love. I could not be less qualified to review a camera so I'm not going to even try - there's a detailed review here in case you're interested.

There's no doubt in my mind that it's really wildlife photography I'd like to learn more about and practice. The first time I ever really used a camera was snapping pictures of animals on a school trip to a farm (the same visit that made me decide eating meat was not for me - clearly an important trip in my formative years) - and my love for photographing wildlife has stuck - I just have literally no clue about the techniques or skills involved.

I thought I'd share a few of my favourite wildlife pics taken so far on my new camera...

A bunny taken from afar...

Gorgeous bird of prey at a display event...

A flower and bee close-up

And the wildest of all wildlife - my kitties...Clara's photo is at the top of this post and then there's Bob...

I'm fairly sure I have more photos of my cats than is healthy...seriously.

I've started an on-line course in photography to try and develop my skills so hope to be able to share some more of my pics in the future!

If anyone has any good tips I'd love to hear them!

Bye for now xx

A mystery revealed...

So I bought this cute little bird feeder which is basically a pretty yellow saucer mounted on a metal stick. I filled it straight up with bird food and then waited.

And waited.

Not a bird was to be seen. Any yet all of the bird food mysteriously disappeared.

Luckily the mystery is now solved - I caught this little guy (girl?) casting a judging eye on the empty saucer. I quickly filled it up, and the pigeon quickly returned and started working through the stash (and has returned several times since).

I'm honestly just happy that it's being used. I would like to attract a bit of a better selection of birds mind you - I'm turning into a right old bird-watcher recently!

Have you had any surprising visitors in your garden?

Bye for now!

Batman and his Pug

I love Pugs. I'm not sure when the switch was turned on in my brain that has led me to worshipping at their little Puggy alter, but it has happened, and I do love them so.

Owning a Pug is on my 'to do in the next ten years list', but I don't think it will happen in the near future. So for now, I amuse myself with watching clips of Pugs on Youtube, clips like this...

...which I make Nick watch approximately 10 times a day...leading him to draw little pieces of genius like this...
Yep...Batman and his pug. I love this more than I can ever say.

The worlds most owl-tastic calendar? I think so!

Owl Lover 2011 Calendar

My obsession with owls has always lingered in the back of my mind but over the past couple of years it has pushed itself to the front, and those little fuzzy dudes with the giant eyes are slowly taking over my life *shifty eyes*

So imagine my glee when I stumbled upon this blog. Imagining it? Now imagine what happened when I discovered the Owl Lover 2011 Calendar - with a selection of images from some seriously amazing artists.

Now go...ensure that every month of 2011 is as owl-tastic as it can be. I'm off to decide on which 12 images to include...not easy.

Big day for the little man

So Bob the cat is also known as Little Man. I'm not sure where it came from but it just suits him. As does Bobert, Squig and any number of other names he gets called on a daily basis. I'm sure other pet owners do this...right?

Anyway, today we bought Bob a new addition for his wardrobe and I had to post a pic because he just looks so damn gorgeous in his new scarf.

They had matching leg warmers. I managed to resist, but for how long?

Yellow Fuzzy Dude

I just came across this little guy making his way across the pavement when I was heading out for lunch with dad. He's the most amazing bright yellow and so fuzzy! My next quest is to work out what he'll turn into one day.

He's also brought back some fond memories of caterpillar hunting in the garden as a child. The fuzzy ones were always my favourite :)

Edited to add....so it turns out that he's going to grow up to be a Pale Tussock Moth!
